Intergenerational fun at St Arnaud community playgroup

Organisers of a pop-up intergenerational playgroup at St Arnaud hope the event will help bridge the gap between the region’s youngest and oldest residents.

The pop-up community event will be in Stewart Hall, St Arnaud Town Hall, on September 25 from 10.30am to noon.

Northern Grampians Shire Council Healthy Ageing Hubs Connection Officer Lisa Gillard said the pop-up followed a successful inaugural community intergenerational playgroup in June.

“The intergenerational playgroup will bring together all ages of the community, with activities provided by the Playgroup Victoria Van and facilitator, along with council’s supported playgroup facilitator,” she said.

“Children aged five and younger and their families will be able to interact with older citizens to find connection through play. The aim is to help bridge the age gap, and we had so much fun last time.”

The pop-up playgroup is an initiative of Thrive 50+ Healthy Ageing Hubs and supported by Western Victoria Primary Health Network.

Mrs Gillard said event highlights would include games and activities, food, refreshments, live entertainment, craft and workshops. “It’s a great opportunity for the new up-and-coming generation to mix with St Arnaud’s older generation,” she said.

“Join us for a spectacular family fun day."

The event is free of charge and no RSVP is required. People can visit www.ngshire.vic.gov.au/Community/Family-and-childrensservices/playgroup for more information about Northern Grampians Shire playgroups.
