 What is E-Waste?

E-Waste is anything with a plug, cord or batteries. E-waste is banned from going to landfill.

E-waste is being accepted at drop-off points throughout the shire.

NOTE: A $46.00 degassing fee applies to fridges, freezers and air conditioners.

Stewardship E-Waste items (accepted free of charge)

  • TVs
  • Laptops
  • Desktops / central processing units (CPUs)
  • Printers and multifunction devices (copiers, scanners, faxes)
  • Cards, motherboards
  • Web cameras
  • Disk drives, hard drives and floppy drives
  • Mice, keyboards
  • Joysticks and gamepads

Non-Stewardship E-Waste items

  • May come at a small fee

Help us out! Please make sure you place your e-waste into its correct bin. This will make the sorting and processing step much easier, and the recycling much more efficient.

NOTE: Items that require degassing (fridges, freezers and air conditioners) will still come with a fee.

There is a Deposit Box located in the foyer at the Stawell Town Hall. This deposit box will accept any small e-waste items that can fit through the cut-outs in the top. Anything that doesn't fit in the Deposit Box must be taken to a transfer station.

Some items that can be deposited in the boxes are:

  • Phones
  • Batteries (Excluding car batteries and other large batteries)
  • Chargers
  • Cords
  • Tablets/e-readers
  • Laptops
  • Keyboards, mice and computer accessories

NOTE: lights and light bulbs are not accepted in the e-waste deposit boxes.
