Modernising the Stawell Library Project
"Modernising the Stawell Library" is a project funded through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, a Victorian State Government initiative.
The project will see extensive works undertaken to improve the overall function of the library which still retains many features of the original 1980s build.
The overall objective of this project is to increase the usability of the library, to create a modern, flexible library/community space with designated and informal areas for technology use, and versatile program space for children and adults that will serve both the local community and wider library users.
The cornerstone of the revitalisation is the creation of a conservatory-style courtyard to create a space suitable for private meetings, community groups and creatives, increasing the program space for all library users.
Other features of the project will include:
- Modernisation of facade
- Kitchenette remodelled for public access.
- New circulation desk.
- Covidsafe public computer desks.
- Portable shelving replacement incorporating face out display to showcase the collection and allow for more flexible floor space during events.
- General refresh of the library interior including new LED lighting.
