Swim and Survive

Our Swim and Survive program is delivered by qualified swim teachers who ensure that essential water safety, personal survival and basic rescue skills are taught well. Our teachers make lessons fun, while helping all participants to develop a strong and effective swimming technique. Swim and Survive is a water safety initiative of Royal Life Saving designed to increase the swimming and water safety skills of all Australian children in order to prevent drowning and increase participation in safe aquatic activity.

Why Swim and Survive?

Learn to swim, swimming lessons, and infant aquatics are all terms commonly used across the aquatic industry for programs that seek to build swimming skills. Swim and Survive is all of these, but most importantly it provides a level of protection for children by helping to equip them with solid foundation skills in swimming, survival and basic rescue.

  • One in five of all drowning deaths are children aged under 18 years.
  • Over 15 million Australian children have participated in the Swim and Survive program.
  • The program has reduced the rate of drowning in children aged five to 14 years by over 75 per cent.
